The Kandy Esala Perahera, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous religious festivals, takes place every year in the hill-capital Kandy, in the full-moon month of Esala coinciding with July/August.

Itinerary

  • DAY 1, AIRPORT - WASKADUWA

    Arrival at the Colombo International Airport. Clients will be Welcome by our CEYLON MEMORIES TOURS & TRAVELS representative and transfer to Hotel Waskaduwa. Evening relaxes on the beach. Overnight stay at Hotel in Waskaduwa.

  • DAY 2, WASKADUWA - GALLE - YALA

    After breakfast leave for Yala via Galle. Galle Fort was built first by the Portuguese and modified by the Dutch during the 17th century. The afternoon starts half-day jeep safari to Yala National park, Yala National Park is the second-largest and most visited national park in the island. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan elephants, aquatic birds, and leopards. Overnight stay at hotel in Yala.

  • DAY 3, YALA - ELLA

    After breakfast leave for Ella. On the way witness eye-catching views with waterfalls. Overnight stay at the hotel in Ella.

  • DAY 4, ELLA - HORTON PLAINS - NUWARA ELIYA

    After breakfast visit Horton plains for trek to “World’s End” & the beautiful “Bakers falls”. World’s End is a sheer precipice with a 4,000 ft (1,219 m) drop. It is situated at the southern boundary of the park. Overnight stay at hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

  • DAY 5, NUWARA ELIYA - TEA FACTORY - KANDY

    After breakfast leave for Kandy. On the way visit a Tea Factory and a Plantation to witness the manufacturing process of world-famous “Ceylon Tea” and to taste a pure un-blended cup of factory fresh tea. Evening city tour of Kandy including Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha – by far the most important place of worship for Buddhists world over, Upper Lake drive a place where one could have a bird’s eye view of the city below. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kandy.

  • DAY 6, KANDY - PINNAWALA - KANDY

    After breakfast leave for Pinnawela, visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, is an orphanage and breeding ground for wild elephants. Evening visit Botanical garden at Peradeniya, Evening watch the Kandy Esala Perahera. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kandy.

  • DAY 7, KANDY - MATHALE - NALANDA GEDIGE - DAMBULLA - SIGIRYA

    After breakfast leave for Sigiriya via Nalanda, Matale. First, visit Spice garden at Matale and take part in a conducted tour to get some knowledge about the growth and use of spices in the day to day life. Next visit Gedige at Nalanda one of the remarkable archaeological sites in Sri Lanka. Afternoon visit Dambulla cave Temple. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Overnight stay at hotel in Sigiriya.

  • DAY 8, SIGIRIYA - ANURADHAPURA - SIGIRIYA

    After breakfast leave for Evening does a sightseeing tour in ancient city Anuradhapura, from the 4th century BC, it was the capital of Sri Lanka until the beginning of the 11th century AD. Overnight stay at Hotel in Sigiriya.

  • DAY 9, SIGIRIYA - POLONNARUWA - PASSIKUDHA

    After breakfast leave to Rock fortress Sigiriya. Sigiriya (Lion’s rock) is an ancient rock fortress and palace built during the reign of King Kassapa I. In the evening sightseeing tour in ancient city Polonnaruwa (11th Century AD). Overnight stay at the hotel in Passikuda.

  • DAY 10 to 12, PASSIKUDHA

    Enjoy your day at leisure on the Beaches of Passikudah. Whale and Dolphin watching, in Trincomalee Snorkeling in Pigeon Island, Scuba Diving in Passikudha, Overnight stay at the hotel in Passikudha.

  • DAY 13, PASSIKUDHA - NEGOMBO

    After breakfast leave for Negombo. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Negombo.

  • DAY 14, AIRPORT - NEGOMBO

    After breakfast leave for airport and departure.
